Job Description:
The Student Success Librarian works closely with librarians and partners across campus to assess needs, design, market, and implement library instruction, programming, and services that support student learning, success, and retention at all levels.
The ideal candidate will be a service-oriented professional committed to inclusivity, empowerment, creativity, and continuing professional development.
As a faculty librarian eligible for continuing appointment, the Student Success Librarian will perform effectively as a librarian, make scholarly contributions to the field, perform service within and without SUNY Polytechnic, and pursue ongoing professional development.
- Design and/or teach in person and online workshops, course-related library instruction, and courses
- Outreach to, and relationship building with, campus partners to foster integration of information literacy into the curriculum, including general education
- Contribute and report statistics and other forms of instructional planning and assessment activities
- Provide reference and research support to patrons via all modalities
- Staff service desks
- Create and maintain web-based library content and content in other media
- Share in building-related duties that may include: Open and/or closing the library building, Enforce policies, Reporting building maintenance needs, Guiding the work of Student Assistants, Use the library services platform
- Share in developing library collections and resources to meet teaching and research needs
- Contribute and report statistics and other reference planning and assessment activities
- Use conventional and emerging media to communicate with stakeholders
- Cultivate and maintain liaison relationships with academic departments and administrative offices, including but not limited to Opportunity Programs, CSTEP, First Year Seminar, Tutoring, Accessibility Services, Student Activities, and Residential Life, as well as individual faculty members
- Participate in projects or initiatives to foster library engagement and student success such as: Grant writing, Cooperative projects and initiatives with departments housed in the library building, Open educational resources, Scholarly publishing support and the SUNY Poly institutional repositories, Research data management, Citation metrics and analyses.
- Participate in institutional, regional, and statewide and national committees and conferences as a representative of SUNY Polytechnic
- Contribute and report statistics and other outreach planning and assessment activities
- Other reasonable duties as assigned
