Senior Manager, Academic Services
Drexel University Libraries (Philadelphia, PA) is recruiting for a Senior Manager, Library Academic Services.  This position manages the Libraries’ efforts in planning, implementing, and assessing library expertise delivered in support of Drexel’s academic enterprise. This includes supervising a team of subject librarians who work closely with students, faculty, and staff to provide guidance and personal consultations to meet their teaching, learning and research needs. The Academic Services Senior Manager also guides the development and use of tools and resources to help Drexel faculty, staff and students find, access, evaluate, and use information, as well as builds relationships with faculty and other teaching/learning partners to strengthen Drexel University’s commitment to empower students to become life-long learners.

Requirements Required:
  • Master’s degree in library or information science or related fields
  • Five years related professional experience in an academic or library setting
  • Experience working as a subject librarian or collaborating with subject librarians
  • Demonstrated understanding of current issues and opportunities in metaliteracy applications and skills development, life-long learning, and pedagogy with experience in providing library reference or instruction
  • Demonstrated experience with collection selection and development with broad knowledge of information resources
  • Familiarity with the scholarly communications landscape and information-seeking behaviors, including influences of the publishing industry
  • Passionate, engaged and self-motivated, willing to take on new challenges, able to solve problems with minimal supervision and eager to learn new knowledge and skills
  • Demonstrated managerial experience with evidence of entrepreneurial and project management skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to manage and improve service quality
  • Experience in supervision and mentorship
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize and adapt technologies and applications
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, inclusive and welcoming work environment in both physical and cyber space.
  • Undergraduate/graduate degree or professional experience in any of the University’s areas of strategic focus: Health Sciences, Technology/Engineering, Design or Social Sciences
  • Demonstrated involvement and contribution to the profession through service, presentations and/or publications
