BUENOS Data Analysis and Research Librarian
The BUENOS Data Analysis and Research Librarian reports directly to the University Librarian and liaises with the Director of BUENOS. BUENOS (Bulldog Undergraduates Engaging iN Opportunities for Success) is a multi-faceted student success program.

This is a five-year position funded by a Title V federal grant for Hispanic-serving institutions.


Responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement comprehensive information literacy training for faculty and undergraduate students.
  • Design and implement information for BUENOS first-year student orientation program.
  • Development of online research guides for all undergraduate degree programs.
  • Provide research support services to faculty and students.
  • Gather monthly usage statistics; prepare reports necessary for continuously assessing services, print, and existing electronic resource subscriptions, such as content overlap and cost-per-use reports; assist with annual IPEDS and occasional accreditation reports.
  • Implement inventory audit of shelf list; correct cataloging errors using LC classification.
  • Assist Library colleagues in developing plans, policies, and procedures for library services.
  • Engage in professional development activities to stay informed about new services and products relevant to the library.

  • MLS/MLIS/MSLIS or comparable degree conferred by an A.L.A. accredited institution.
  • Four years in an academic library with experience in public services, reference, information literacy instruction, cataloging, or academic program development. Paid or voluntary internships in Data Science, Statistics, or Institutional Data in higher education will be considered for partial fulfillment of the four-year library experience requirement.
  • Knowledge of library databases and current library-related technologies.
  • Skills, & Abilities Knowledge of library management systems, especially ALMA/Primo.
  • Knowledge of MARC format and basic cataloging preferred.
  • Ability to work with racially and ethnically diverse students and faculty.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English), preferred.

Physical Demands:

Work is primarily sedentary. Some lifting is required (approximately 25 pounds).

Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines is required.

Working Conditions:

Work is generally performed indoors in a typical office setting. Duties include evening and weekend hours on a rotating schedule
