Bilingual Storytime Presenter
The Enoch Pratt Free Library has an immediate opening for a Part-Time Bilingual Storytime Presenter that is passionate about early literacy and supporting parents and caregivers in the development of their child’s love of reading.
Under the direction of the Family Literacy Outreach Coordinator, the part-time Bilingual Storytime Presenter is responsible for leading regularly scheduled storytimes at Pratt Library locations and assisting in the design and delivery of library programs and services for children ages 0-5 and their families. They will track current trends in youth literature, programming and popular culture, and support family literacy programs at the library and throughout the Baltimore community.

Summary of Duties
  • Plan and present bilingual storytimes in English and Spanish. Develop and facilitate programs that support family literacy and the development of reading routines.
  • When scheduling allows, provide coverage for regularly scheduled branch storytimes when the children’s librarian and their branch substitute are both unavailable.
  • Stay current on trends in library services, literature, and popular culture, and explore innovative programming for young children and caregivers.
  • Schedule and assist with other children’s programs and outreach activities, as needed.
  • Work a flexible schedule between the hours of 9am-5pm, and occasional Saturday mornings. No evening work required. The work must be performed on-site.

Requirements Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to speak and work effectively with the public, especially youth.
  • Experience with developing and delivering children's reading programs.
  • Commitment to and understanding of effective community library service in an urban environment.
  • Awareness of socio-economic conditions and trends affecting children in urban areas.
  • Ability to plan and implement children programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including a willingness to work collaboratively and the ability to create and present information in group settings.
