Staffing currently consists of 10 FTE professional librarians and 20 FTE paraprofessionals. The Library’s building is a dynamic learning space that features two instructional labs, 200+ computers, 12 group study rooms, quiet study and collaborative working spaces, a café, art gallery, and automated storage and retrieval system.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION
The faculty of the University Library at Sonoma State University invites applications for temporary librarian
positions. Ideal candidates are enthusiastic, collaborative, and user-centered with experience providing
research assistance and teaching information literacy.
Temporary librarians provide online and face-to-face instruction and research support to students; demonstrate
a commitment to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity,
sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of students, faculty and staff.
They are typically not required to participate in library service such as committee work, outreach initiatives,
special collections support, and/or research guide development, but may be asked to perform these services
depending on background and experience.
To be recommended for appointment, the candidate must have:
• American Library Association (ALA) accredited Master’s degree in Library and Information Science.
• Experience providing reference services for libraries and/or demonstrated fluency with library reference.
• Experience providing information literacy instruction and/or demonstrated fluency with library pedagogy.
• Commitment to principles of diversity and inclusion; ability to work well with diverse populations.
• Experience providing reference and instruction in academic libraries.
• Experience using Springshare's suite of products (e.g., LibGuides, LibAnswers, LibChat, etc.).
RANK AND SALARY
Full-time is 15-unit workload per semester. Actual salary is dependent upon number of units assigned,
educational preparation, and availability of funds subject to any CSU system faculty contract salary increases.

appointments are made on a part-time, temporary basis and contingent upon department needs and

? Temporary Faculty with three-year contracts do not need to reapply.
? Temporary Faculty who have taught for the department within the past two years only need to submit a
Lecturer Qualified Course Form and updated CV to remain in the pool. The hiring committee will review
the Personnel Action File and then determine whether an additional interview would be beneficial.
