Library Director- AHJ Regional Library System
The Allendale-Hampton-Jasper Regional Library Board welcomes applications from dynamic, innovative and service-oriented candidates for a Director to lead the continuing development of library services in a three-county rural library consortium.   The Director will be responsible for budget planning and management, library policies, operations and staff leadership.  The position reports to the Regional Board.

The AHJ Regional System serves three beautiful Low Country counties stretching along the Savannah River between North Augusta, S.C. and Savannah, GA.   This quiet rural area depends heavily on its public libraries for computers, books, and information.  Several library facilities have been constructed or renovated recently. The AHJ Regional Library System includes five libraries throughout the three counties, a regional headquarters at the Allendale library, and a Bookmobile.  The annual system-wide budget is approximately $1,200,000 and the staff consists of 25 employees.  The library system has 5,748 card-holding patrons, approximately 10% of the three-county population.  The system is a member of the SC LENDS (Sirsi-based integrated library system) collaborative and circulates about 50,000 items annually.     

Salary range:  $60,000 - $70,000 annually, with excellent benefits.  This is a full-time position. Applications will be accepted until December 6, 2024.

Requirements Candidates must have an MLS from an ALA-accredited program.  Five years of increasing responsibility are preferred in managing or supporting library service, which must include administrative (budgeting, planning) and supervisory responsibility.  Competitive candidates will have a strong philosophy of customer service, effective communication, public relations skills, experience collaborating with community partners, strategies for collection development, and the ability to build consensus among library stakeholders.  Experience in grant writing is preferred.

Experience in overseeing building projects is also preferred. The Regional Director will be expected to serve a coordinating role for planned renovations and a move to temporary space for the Pratt Library in Jasper County.
