Position Summary: North Park University seeks an instruction librarian for a ten-month, tenure-track faculty position. As a member of the information literacy faculty, this individual will collaborate with faculty members to teach and assess information literacy and research skills that are appropriate for the discipline and course level. North Park’s information literacy program is based on ACRL’s Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education. Faculty members are expected to engage in research and serve on university committees. All Instruction Librarians are assigned to one or more schools as library liaisons. Liaison duties include designing an information literacy program appropriate for the curriculum of the assigned schools, being available for individual consultations with students studying in the liaison’s area, and assisting with collection development in subject matter related to liaison responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
• Teach information literacy and research skills via course-integrated instruction in face-toface and online formats
• Provide individualized research consultations to students during office hours and by appointment.
• Use a variety of learning technologies to teach information literacy and research skills to remote learners.
• Serve as a liaison to one or more North Park Schools to scaffold information literacy skills into departmental curricula.
• Engage in collection management by selecting appropriate books, journals, and databases.
• Maintain awareness of information literacy standards and learning theories.
•Serve on campus committees, engage in professional development, and fulfill other expectations of NPU faculty members.
