Adjunct Faculty Instruction Librarian
The University of Portland, Clark Library, with its collegial environment, seeks applicants for a fall term adjunct faculty instruction librarian. This librarian works from August to November, preparing and teaching approximately 20 information literacy classes in introductory courses, in collaboration with teaching librarians and professors.  We encourage applications from individuals whose unique backgrounds, beliefs, ideas, and life  experiences will enrich the diversity of our campus community, and who demonstrate a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.

General Duties:

Collaborates with the Clark Library instruction team and course professors to deliver information literacy sessions.

Develops information literacy instruction sessions and learning activities.

Creates appropriate assessment activities for instruction sessions.

Develops instructional resources to augment instruction when appropriate (e.g., tutorials or LibGuides).

Performs other related tasks as required.

Education & Experience

Required: ALA-accredited master's degree in Library and Information Science.

Required: Experience providing instruction or training within higher education.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

A working knowledge of the information literacy concepts and the Association of College & Research Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education.

Proficiency in the use of general and subject-specific print and electronic resources.

Proficiency with tools for teaching with technology (e.g., LibGuides, Poll Everywhere, Google Slides, Zoom, Microsoft Teams).

Ability to create relevant lesson plans, learning activities, and formative assessment tools for instruction sessions.

Ability to contribute collegially and productively in a team environment.

Proficiency in interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills.
