Evening Circulation Supervisor
This position under the general supervision of the Head of Public Services performs a variety of specialized duties including taking the lead in facilitating the processing of electronic reserve materials and student scheduling.  Overseeing the activities within the Circulation Unit during the evening hours, the Evening Supervisor directs the work of 2 to 3 student workers at the Service Desk and serves as the supervisor for the Digital Lab and the Research Desk student employees when their supervisors are absent.  The Evening Supervisor coordinates the training of new students during the evening shift, and facilitates shelving, shelf reading, stacks maintenance, course reserves, and consortial borrowing during that time. The Evening Supervisor also assists with the receiving of Interlibrary Loan articles during the evening and Sunday hours. 

This is a full-time, non-exempt (hourly – generally 40 hours per week), 12 months per year position with benefits. Education and Experience
  • Required: associate’s degree.
  • Required: experience working with computers
  • Preferred: bachelor’s degree; experience working with library automation systems; experience supervising student employees.
  • Or equivalent education and/or experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient computer skills and demonstrated experience with office software, email applications, and library automation systems; ability to quickly learn and use new technologies and applications in depth and at level of proficiency required for duties of the position.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to be an effective communicator with diverse students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to prioritize and resolve problems with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent ability to routinely and independently exercise sound judgment in making decisions.
  • Ability to interpret, apply, and explain policies and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Supervisory experience or understanding about and ability to apply the principles of effective personnel management.
