Electronic Resources & Discovery Librarian

 

The University of Missouri Libraries seeks a user-focused, forward-looking, collaborative Electronic Resources & Discovery Librarian (NTT position) to join our dedicated, energetic team to maintain and improve users’ access to online resources and maximize the value of the resources.  The successful candidate must demonstrate flexibility, open-mindedness, and the ability to adapt to changing and new technologies and services.  Under the direction of the Head of Research & Information Services, the Electronic Resources & Discovery Librarian will coordinate e-resource access, gather e-resources usage data and troubleshoot patron access problems.  In addition, this librarian will work closely with librarians and staff across departments (including subject librarians, Acquisitions & Technical Service’s staff and other departments).  Supervisor and mentors will provide training in systems (SpringShare, Ebsco Discovery Services, etc.). Entry level librarians are encouraged to apply.


Salary

Salary and librarian rank will be commensurate with experience. Negotiable from $50,000.

 

This position holds non-tenure track faculty status (NTT) and will be hired at the appropriate rank of Librarian or Archivist. Requirements

Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintain seamless access to electronic resource collections by actively managing access points available online through the libraries
  • Manage database listings utilizing LibGuides and in-house content management system
  • Assist in support of third-party services enabling full text linking, such as Full Text Finder
  • Update and customize interfaces for electronic resource access and discovery
  • Serve as the administrator for the libraries’ branded instance of Ebsco Discovery Service (EDS) and the public interfaces for other online resources
  • Maintain the EDS knowledgebase
  • Identify methods for maximizing value and awareness of e-resources through marketing, workshops, etc.
  • Gather, organize, and present data to stakeholders for evaluation of electronic resource subscription decisions and local and national reporting requirements (ACRL, ARL)
  • Use tools and systems to gather COUNTER usage reports
  • Perform troubleshooting for access issues, communicate with users and vendors to identify and resolve issues
  • Coordinate product trials, including user access, manage user feedback and provide usage data to appropriate subject specialists
  • Coordinate librarian and staff training on e-resources
  • Provide user-centered reference assistance and support to students, faculty, staff and community patrons 
  • May serve one or more academic programs as a subject librarian with responsibilities for outreach, research consultation, instruction and collection development for assigned area(s)
  • Stay current with emerging trends relating to electronic resources’ access and discovery to enhance library services
  • Participate in library and campus committees
  • Other duties as assigned
 

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in library and information science (MLS, MLIS or equivalent) from an ALA-accredited program or its equivalent
